Refund Policy
Payments, cancellations and refunds
How paying for CostKit works, how to cancel, and when we give your money back.
Last updated: October 2026
1. In short
CostKit is free to try: every new account gets 2 free recipes, with no card needed. After that you can pay per recipe or subscribe to the Business plan. Because you can try the real product before paying, payments are normally non-refundable. If something went wrong with a payment, we will put it right, as described in section 5.
2. How payments work
Payments are made in the CostKit web app, in Naira, through our payment provider, Paystack, by card, bank transfer or USSD. We never see or store your card details. Current prices are on our Pricing page. If you buy inside our iPhone or Android app through the Apple App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google bills you, and refunds for those purchases are handled by them under their own refund policies. We cannot refund App Store or Google Play payments directly. Sections 3 to 7 below apply to payments made through Paystack.
3. Recipe credits
A recipe credit is a one-time purchase that lets you cost one recipe. Credits never expire, and a recipe you have costed stays unlocked, even if you later end a subscription. Credits are not refundable once bought, except as described in section 5.
4. The Business monthly plan
Business gives you unlimited recipe costings for a month. • Paid by card: it renews automatically every month until you cancel. Cancel any time in the app under Settings → Account → Manage Subscription, which takes you to Paystack to change your card or cancel. You keep Business until the end of the month you have paid for, and you will not be charged again. • Paid by bank transfer or USSD: you get 30 days and nothing renews automatically. To continue, renew in the app when you are ready. We do not refund the unused part of a month when you cancel.
5. When we refund
We will refund you if: • you were charged twice for the same purchase; • you were charged after you cancelled your Business plan; or • you paid, but the app did not unlock what you paid for and we cannot fix it. Contact us as soon as you notice, and within the billing period in which you were charged. Include the email address on your CostKit account and the Paystack reference from your receipt, and we will look into it in good faith. Approved refunds go back to the card or account you paid from, through Paystack; how long they take to appear depends on your bank.
6. Deleting your account
Deleting your CostKit account does not by itself cancel a card subscription at Paystack. Cancel your Business plan first, under Settings → Account → Manage Subscription, then delete your account. Unused recipe credits end with the account and are not refunded.
7. Price changes
A price change never affects a period you have already paid for. If you subscribe to Business at a launch price, you keep that price for as long as your subscription stays active.
8. Your rights
Nothing in this policy limits any rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law. This policy forms part of our Terms of Service.
