How it works
Built around the way you already cook.
No accounting background needed. Tell CostKit what you paid and what goes into the pot, and it gives you a real cost, a real price and a real margin.
Step by step
From market list to menu price, in five steps
No accounting degree, no spreadsheets. CostKit walks you through every cost so you arrive at a price that builds your business.
01
Tell us about your kitchen
Before you create an account, a short setup asks how you will use CostKit, what describes you best and what you want help with. Where your kitchen is sets your currency. Then sign up with your email, or with Google on the web app.
- Personal or Business mode
- Your country sets the currency
- Email or Google sign-up
02
Add what you paid at the market
A guided tour takes you through your first market list. Add each item the way you buy it, a 50 kg bag of rice, a crate of eggs, a litre of oil, with the price you paid.
- By the bag, the crate or the piece
- Price history for every ingredient
- A guided tour for your first run
03
Build the recipe
Add ingredients from your list and say how much the recipe uses: part of a pack, an exact weight, or whole items. Set the number of portions and CostKit works out the cost of each one.
- Dishes, pastry and drinks
- Part of a pack, exact weight or whole items
- Cost per portion, worked out for you
04
Cost it and set your price
The calculator adds waste, labour and extras like gas, transport or packaging to the food cost. Pick a profit markup, or set your own price, and check the food cost ratio before you commit.
- Waste from 5% to 50%
- Labour by the day, extras by the batch
- Markup or your own price
05
Save, sell and keep it current
Save the costing to your library, put dishes on a menu with per-plate costs, and export a PDF for your team or your customers. When market prices move, Price check shows which recipes need a new price.
- Saved costings and menus
- PDF reports and menu cards
- Price check when costs move
The result
A costing you can price from.
